I Was Wrong and I Admit It…

Okay, so when it comes to Mount Redoubt, I was totally wrong. At least, so far I’ve been totally wrong. For what it’s worth, I do believe (and I dowsed on this not long ago) that in any case Mount Redoubt is going to erupt. I also believe that this eruption is going to happen relatively soon. I used a different method for dowsing for the next predicted date- Instead of asking for a range of dates and hours, I used a calendar and asked the pendulum to indicate the way in which it wanted to move in order to arrive at Friday, February 6th, as the date of eruption.

In any case, geologists do seem to believe that the eruption is going to happen sooner rather than later. We’ll keep an eye out. At least, I will.

Nothing New on the Mountain

According to the website of the Alaska Volcano Observatory, there have been no significant changes. Note use of the word “unrest” below. When I first read this rundown- since I’m not a geologist- I didn’t think much of the word. Apparently, using the word “unrest” to describe seismic/volcanic activity is meant to imply that the dragon is waking again. According to the USGS representative on the video I’ve linked below, it means that an eruption is likely.

Unrest at Redoubt Volcano continues. Seismic activity remains elevated above background. Clear web camera images show no activity at the volcano.

According to small blurbs being released by the AP, while nothing has changed at Mount Redoubt, geologists still believe that an explosion will occur. The only question at this point is what the size of the eruption will be. Seismic activity has not changed and ice continues to melt from the volcano.

This is one of the better articles I’ve been able to find on the matter and it’s coming out of the Hilton Head area. It also has a video of the 1989 eruption and some information from both USGS and the Alaska Volcano Observatory.

Let me know if you find anything more of interest. For now, though nothing has changed and it appears relatively quiet on the mountain.

Update on Mount Redoubt from the A.V.O.

This is the recent post from the Alaska Volcano Observatory.

“Redoubt Volcano remains restless. Seismic activity continues at an elevated level and is well above background levels. The volcano has not erupted.

A gas/observation overflight yesterday reported continued changes in the summit glaciers indicative of heating of the summit area. Photos from both the overflight and the hut webcam showed a small vapor plume at the summit. The web camera is now dark as our long winter night continues.”

Everything I’m reading seems to imply that it is a matter of when and not if. The odds have already been established. The volcano is expected to go at some point.

Volcano Preparedness

This is a very handy website for those who will be caught up in the eruption of Mount Redoubt. It lists practical advice for staying safe before, during, and after an eruption. Of course, I think we all understand that the theory is often very different from the reality. I have never been anywhere near an erupting volcano, but I’m sure it’s intimidating to say the least. It seems that the largest threat to those around the eruption has to do with the ash fall out because of the sheer amount of ash falling and the way that it can affect everything.

Then again, what do I know? Just be careful, all those who stand to be directly affected by this thing. Please listen when the authorities ask you to evacuate. In all honesty, I have a hard time dealing with people who don’t follow the advice of their local government officials who are asking them to leave. Not only do those who stay risk their own lives, if they end up in a bind they risk the lives of those who are willing to go out and attempt rescue. Please- if evacuation is announced- follow protocol.

Redoubt Websites to Keep an Eye On…

I can’t believe this isn’t more of a news story. It really bugs the crap out of me. When did Jessica Simpson’s alleged weight problems become more important than a volcano that appears to be on the verge of eruption?! Sometimes I have to laugh to keep from crying.

Mount Redoubt, My Thoughts

I’m not trying to scare the crap out of people, but I will make my own prediction concerning what appears to be the imminent erruption of this Alaskan volcano. I would also like to point out that during the first weeks of 2009 there was some question as to whether the super volcano that is Yellowstone National Park was on the verge of eruption. The eruption of a super volcano- make no mistake- would change life as we know it globally, not just in a concentrated area. At the time, my intuition and some dowsing work that I did told me that the earthquakes being recorded by seismologists would peter out within about two weeks and that the Yellowstone caldera would not erupt. Obviously, it did not erupt and- as far as I know- the Yellowstone tremors have subsided considerably.

The events taking place at Mount Redoubt, however, are not only more noteworthy, but according to work I did this morning they are precursors to an erruption that my projections have occurring between 5am and 6pm (Alaskan time) on Wednesday, February 4, 2009. Keep eyes and ears open, and if anyone is privvy to other information, let me know. I’ll try to keep updates coming here as I find out about them.

As I said, I’m not trying to scare anyone. I am not a geologist and not in any way capable of saying that these occurrences at Redoubt are more or less indicative of erruption or other volcanic activity. But be on the look out and if you live in Alaska, specifically in the Anchorage area, take care.

A Fun Exercise

Okay, for anyone who has some time on their hands this is kind of a neat test. All you need is your dowsing journal or a piece of paper, something to write with, your pendulum or dowsing instrument, and access to up-to-date weather information. Clear your mind, take a few deep breaths, and choose a city- any city- that you’d like to dowse for weather.

Now, in your journal determine what kind of weather you’re looking for. Start with generalities. Hot, cold, wet, dry, etc. You can branch out to more specific conditions later if you’d like. Determine whether you want to find out what the weather will be like at some future time or if you’d like to divine the current weather in the city you have chosen. Start asking questions.

Once you have exhausted your questions- if you’re looking for current conditions- check out a website for 24-hour weather to see how accurate you are. If you dowsed for a later time, you’ll just have to wait.

This is a fun exercise and helps to kill time. Lemme know what kind of success you have with this.

UPDATE: Super Bowl Predictions

******UPDATE****** I was of the impression that the Steelers were intercepted during the game, but I’ve been told that it wasn’t officially an interception, so take it for what it is. That would make my accuracy regarding the 2009 Super Bowl slightly higher- 6 out of 7, or 85%. Just a correction- do with it what you will.

Well, I have to say, I was sweatin’ it out. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Ben and the boys as the fourth came to an end. In fact, I’ll be totally honest, I left the party I was at and went home to get ready for work, certain that the Cardinals had managed to snag a victory but hoping that maybe I was wrong. Really, this was a triumph for my pendulum experiments- that’s the only reason I cared about how it turned out.

I’m going to itemize the pieces of my prediction and use smiles and frowns to indicate the predictions I got right and those that I did not. First off, part of the prediction was from earlier in the month:

The Steelers would win against the Baltimore Ravens. They did.
The Cardinals would win against the Philadelphia Eagles. They did.
Then, pitted against each other, the Steelers would beat the Cardinals and go on to win their sixth Super Bowl. They did.

The more recent predictions, those made with Silver Bullet, were as follows:

The Steelers would not be intercepted. They were.
The Steelers would intercept the Cardinals. They did.
Hines Ward would play in the game despite recent health issues. He did.
The initials of the MVP would be D. T. They were not.

So, for the Super Bowl Predictions- my first ever (and mundane though they may be)- the score came to 5 hits and 2 misses, or 71%. That’s not too bad when you consider that what I got wrong was really pretty trivial. In the end, everyone is mainly interested in who won and who lost. I got that right. Actually, I predicted the winners three times for three different games.

Not bad for my first try…

Okay, Pay Attention…

Start looking for new pages popping up here within the next few weeks. I’m going to start writing essays here and there about different aspects of divinatory work, and I’m going to focus mainly on dowsing and pendulum practice, but overall the effect is hopefully to give those unfamiliar with the concept of divination a little more grounding in the ideas and beliefs that come with the territory. I don’t know if any of you are aware of this- divination enthusiasts can be a bunch of crazy frickin’ people! Good people, of course. I don’t mean anything truly negative by that statement. But we can collectively scare the bird crap out of the rest of the world. I talk to my guide all the time- especially while I’m driving- and I can only imagine what people passing me on the highway must think.

I decided to do the page thing because I think it will be easier for people to access as they see fit instead of having to search through past postings for the information they need. In the end, hopefully, it will be lik e a beginner book to every kind of “mancy” out there…

Well, maybe not every kind…
